RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Richland County deputies have arrested a man for murder after the body of a woman was found inside a burning car on Tuesday night.
48-year-old Darrell Lydell Griffin was charged with murder Wednesday.
The body of 44-year-old Johnette Pratt of Columbia was found in a burning car near Alpine Road and the Christian Faith Fellowship Church.
Investigators say Griffin called, then later arrived at the Richland County Sheriff's Department office on Two Notch Road Tuesday to report that he and his friend were victims of a robbery.
Investigators determined Pratt died from injuries caused by Griffin to her upper body.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says preliminary autopsy results indicate that Pratt died as a result of strangulation.
Griffin is held in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
