Deputies are looking for a man who they say tried to abduct a 2-year-old boy who was with his father at a library.
An Anderson County Sheriff’s Office incident report said that deputies were called to the County Library on South McDuffie Street on Monday afternoon.
Roger Lee Whitlock told deputies that just before 4 p.m., a man walked up to his son and asked the boy if he wanted to go home with him.
Whitlock said the man grabbed his son’s hand and tried to walk away with him, so he stood up and confronted the man and punched him in the face.
Whitlock said after the man ran away and he called police.
Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the man. Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from the library to see if the man or the incident was caught on camera.
The child was not injured.
Anyone with information is asked to call 864-233-1158.
